R. J. Rushdoony Quote

"The freedom of the church to apply God's word, God's law, and moral requirements, to the State is necessary for the health and welfare of the state and society. Today, as in ancient Israel and Judah, where evil rulers sought to silence the voice of the prophets, so now evil and anti-Christian rulers again seek to silence the prophetic word of God, and the church, the ministry of the word.

To be silent in such a time is to deny the Lord, abandon the faith, and concede to the enemy."

Ecclesiastes Quote

"A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men: and the living will lay it to his heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools. For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool: this also is vanity." - Ecclesiastes 7:1-6  (ABS 1911)

Predestination

I think the Bible is full of proof that predestination is true, but the Lord will reveal things at certain times, and its like: "How could I not see that before?"

I've been reading through 1 Kings the past few days, and I was at an event last night where one of the verses preached about was the same (Predestination was not talked about).  I read Chapter 13 yesterday but it did not hit me until this morning. When Jeroboam is reprehended by the Prophet, he prophesied saying: "And he cried against the altar by the commandment of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the Lord, Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name, and upon thee shall he sacrifice the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and they shall burn men's bones upon thee." 1 Kings 13:2 (1599 Geneva)

So, not only did this prophet declare the wrath of God upon a wicked order of the day, but he also declared something that was going to happen! For that matter, ALL of the prophecies that are in the Bible whether they be completed or not, imply a basic acceptance of the Sovereignty of God, they imply that He governs and guides all things. They imply that God has predestinated all things by the counsel of His will.

"O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself, neither is it in man to walk and to direct his steps." Jeremiah 10:23

"The heart is deceitful and wicked above all things, who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, and try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his works."

R. J. Rushdoony Quote

"To have none other gods, means to have no other law than God's law, and no activity or thought apart from His law-word. Whether for food, to uphold the civil law, in warfare, or in self-defense, blood can be shed only in terms of God's word. Where God permits it, man cannot contradict God or propose a "better" or "higher" way without sin.

Thus, to regard vegetarianism, pacifism, or non-resistance in all cases, as a "higher" way is to treat God's way as lower than man's."
